Blue Curacao Mojito Cocktail

Elevate your summer cocktail experience sipping on a delicious Blue Curacao Mojito
Summertime means cocktails on the patio (or terrasse, rooftop, poolside) and as the days get hotter, you will look for a refreshing summer cocktail to quench your thirst while enjoying some downtime before dinner.
So, if you are looking for some cocktail inspiration, my recommendation is to go for a blue curacao mojito.
The classic mojito is perhaps one of the oldest cocktails in history. At least if you are counting only the cocktails still in vogue today.
The first mentions of the mojito can be traced back some 500 years. It’s believed it was created in the 1500s by the crew of famous Sir Francis Drake at the time they landed in Cuba. Back then, the mixture of sugar and lime was intended to help combat the effects of a vitamin C deficiency after the long months spend at sea. Mint was added to combat nausea and to make the mixture a bit more pleasant, a spirit made on the island (predating what later become the famous Cuban rum) was added.
Today, a classic mojito is made with white rum, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, mint leaves, and soda water.
But the classic mojito would not be a popular classic drink without the many variations introduced over time. Among the most ‘classic’ variations are perhaps swapping rum for vodka or gin, or soda water for sparkling wine. Then you got the strawberry mojito, grilled pineapple mojito, watermelon mojito, the frozen mojito, and all other variations of mojito I am not going to mention because the list is nearly endless.
And then, of course, there is the blue curacao mojito.

This stunning looking blue drink incorporates all the delicious flavours of the classic mojito but adds a touch of subtle orange flavour, perfectly enhancing the lime and mint flavours.
How to make a Blue Curacao Mojito
Mixing up a Blue Curacao Mojito or in short Blue Mojito is as simple as mixing a classic mojito. All you need is adding blue curacao and slightly adjust the quantity of rum.
5-6 mint leaves
15 ml simple syrup
30 ml freshly squeezed limed juice
45 ml white rum
30 ml blue curacao
45 ml club soda
additional mint leaves and lime wheels to garnish
Add mint leaves, simple syrup, and lime juice to a highball glass. Gently muddle the mint leaves. Fill the glass with ice than add rum and blue curacao. Top with club soda and garnish with lime wheels and mint leaves.
Enjoy!
